Activities of CEMCA Community Radio Facilitation Centre
CEMCA Community Radio Facilitation Centre, established with support from Ford Foundation and CEMCA will be providing services to both new applicants who aspire to set up a community radio station as well as those applicants who have already obtained Letter of Intent (LoI) from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MoIB), Government of India.
The assistance will include a whole range of services to obtain licenses which are primarily online application processes, as well as to enable the entire Community Radio Movement with capacities and opportunities to take leadership and to represent the practitioners with ability to advocate for a right to spectrum. Further, the CCFC will be engaged in developing toolkits and guidelines to improve practice. These include drafting, field testing and dissemination of Self Assessment Toolkit and Ethical Practices Guidelines.
The CCFC will be successful only if such capacities as CCFC provide is replicated amongst more concerned volunteers and networks/associations that represent the voice of the community radio movement and practitioners. For this purpose, it is proposed to provide a hands-on experience to interested individuals and organizations who will spend time with the CCFC team and enable other CR Stations through the licensing processes.
CCFC strives to build such capacities across the country, and create a momentum for nearly doubling the number of stations at the end of two year period beginning July 2011.
